After twenty years away from Ireland and living abroad I decided that the pull back to Ireland was too much. With that came lots of changes and worries. Would my kids settle in and adapt? Would I not just find a job, but an opportunity that I would believe in and care about it? Thankfully on both counts it has been a tremendous experience.
In my previous life I worked in Telecoms for an Irish company called Digicel for 11 years in mostly CEO roles across multiple markets. This involved launching two start up markets, a turnaround challenge of 4 countries which had been recently acquired and driving one of the Groups largest markets to unprecedented growth and market share, it was a busy 11 years! Prior to that it was mostly Commercial Director roles in FMCG in the UK with companies such as Kerry and Greencore. So whilst living abroad for twenty years, interestingly all companies have had deep Irish links albeit with global footprints. I guess I was always a homebird!
This background and experience is now really helping me in my role as Chief Commercial Officer in iCabbi. It is a broad, challenging and exciting role that involves Sales, Marketing, Product and our expansion into new markets. My passion is for our customers both in the markets we currently serve and as we continue our international expansion. Ensuring we create innovative and game changing products is key to our success going forward and our Product and R&D teams continue to amaze me with their creativity, dedication and ability to solve problems and create opportunities for our customers through our Taxi 360 platform.
We are all only as good as the team around us and I am very proud of the teams that I lead across multiple locations and geographies. Our recent rapid expansion and growth is testament to our ambition to be a truly global player in this very exciting world.
My passion outside work is my family – and with four children I am strongly thinking about setting up our iCabbi platform at home, given that myself and my wife turn into Taxi drivers as we ferry our kids from every known extracurricular activity at the weekend!
